Chaevia Clendinen

Assistant Dean for Student Advancement and Diversity (Autumn Quarter: In person every day)

Chaevia Clendinen’s responsibilities include creating and maintaining programs and initiatives that enhance the diversity of students within the Division and developing initiatives that further equity and inclusion to support academic progress of all students, but with a focus on the unique needs of students from historically underrepresented groups. She is also responsible for developing professional development and skills-building programs that furthers the success of students seeking academic and non-academic careers. Clendinen earned her PhD from Princeton University and then went on to be a Diversity Initiative Specialist there, a role in which she mentored graduate students and designed programs to help graduate students acclimate to doctoral study, advance academically, and succeed in professional outcomes. After Princeton, she was an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation.
