Disability Accommodations
The Division of the Social Sciences aims to provide an environment conducive to learning, teaching, working, and conducting research that values the diversity of its community. The Division is committed to facilitating the full participation of students with a disability in the life of the University.
A student who wishes to seek an accommodation should register with Student Disability Services (SDS), and complete the Request for Disability Accommodations form through SDS. After the student completes the form, SDS will make an disability determination.
If SDS grants the student reasonable accommodation, they will send the Accommodation Determination letter to the student, with a copy to the Division’s Disability Liaison, Associate Dean of Students, Chaevia Clendinen. Dean Clendinen, or Associate Dean of Students Brett Baker, will contact the student to offer assistance in accommodation implementation. It’s important that the student’s instructors are made aware of the student’s accommodation at the beginning of the quarter, or upon SDS granting the accommodation. The Dean of Students office will discuss with the student whether the student will inform the instructors, or the student would prefer to have the Dean of Students office inform the instructors. Advanced notice of the accommodations is important in allowing instructors and staff time to implement the accommodations. The Disability Liaison will coordinate with the student, instructor, and relevant University staff to implement the approved accommodations.
