Teng Ge is a global sociologist whose research investigates how individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds navigate division, conflict, and collaboration within transnational organizations. A former professional basketball player, he brings firsthand experience to his research on global sports and organizational dynamics. His first book manuscript, Working Together Apart, draws on 36 months of ethnographic fieldwork as an assistant coach with a professional basketball team in China to examine how foreign and overseas athletes interact with local players, coaches, and institutions. Using professional sports as a revealing empirical site, the book analyzes how culturally diverse individuals develop coordinated teamwork amid entrenched divisions and conflicts. His work bridges global sociology, organizational theory, and the sociology of culture, contributing to debates on transnational talent flows and cross-cultural collaboration.
