Teaching Fellow

Xue Han is a postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in the Department of Comparative Human Development, Committee on Education, and the College.

Xue has a theory and methodological training in interdisciplinary social science, encompassing sociology, anthropology, and cultural psychology, in China and the US. Xue’s intellectual curiosity is deeply motivated by how people respond to imposed behaviors if they don’t believe in them. Before joining the doctoral program at the University of Chicago, Xue had been a lecturer for two years at Tibet University. Xue’s dissertation is about moral development and youth education in areas with ideological tensions under authoritarian regimes, such as Tibet in China. 

Xue will teach the “Self, Culture, and Society” in Fall and Spring 2025 and offer a course on Global Youth Development amid ideological tensions and complex political contexts in Spring 2025. 

Xue’s personal interests include practicing Chinese calligraphy and various sports; Xue is a member of the Badminton and Ki-Aikido clubs at UChicago.
