Kelly Pollock Named New Dean of Students for Social Sciences
Dean Amanda Woodward announced today that Kelly Pollock will begin as Dean of Students for the Division of the Social Sciences on July 1, 2020.
Patrick Hall, who has served as Dean of Students since 2007, will become Senior Advisor to the Dean on Graduate Programs until his retirement in September. The Division will host a virtual gathering this summer to thank him for his remarkable legacy of service.
Pollock came to the Dean of Students Office in 2008. She is presently the Associate Dean of Students, with broad responsibility for admissions and financial aid in the Division. She came to the University in 2004, starting in a position with the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and moving to the Department of History in 2005. She holds a BA in Religious Studies from Northwestern University and an MA in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
“The Dean of Students role is a key leadership position for the Division. As we develop and implement new programs and resources to support graduate students in our PhD and MA programs, the Deans of Students will have responsibilities for guiding the Division through the opportunities and challenges ahead. I am grateful that Kelly has accepted this role. She will bring her knowledge of and vision for the Dean of Students Office to bear on behalf of all Division students in PhD and MA programs,” said Woodward.
