Associate Dean, Academic Affairs and Capital PlanningJoshua Beck works closely with academic leadership to ensure the Dean Woodward’s academic priorities are successfully implemented. In collaboration with the Dean and Deputy Deans, Josh Beck works with department chairs to support faculty recruiting and retention. Josh supports new academic initiatives and oversees strategic planning for the facilities and administration that support Social Sciences research and teaching. He also oversees strategic planning for divisional IT.
Prior to joining the Dean’s team in 2014, Beck served as founding Executive Director for the Neubauer Collegium on Culture & Society (2012-14) and in multiple roles in the interdisciplinary Center for Latin American Studies (2000-12). He earned an M.A. in Latin American & Caribbean Studies from the University of Chicago and a B.A. with double-major in English and Anthropology from Macalester College.
