Teaching Requirement

Students Enrolling Autumn 2024 and Earlier

The Committee on Social Thought requires a minimum of three Mentored Teaching Experiences (MTEs) as part of the degree requirements, but allows for more provided they are planned in advance and pedagogically justified. The number as well as the type of MTEs students complete should be determined in close consultation with their advisor. MTE plans must be submitted by the end of the spring quarter of the second year and may be completed at any time during a student’s tenure in the program.

Students Enrolling Autumn 2025 and Later

All students must meet the divisional teaching requirement as a condition for graduation.
