A research project about Detroit helped Angela Li launch a career in spatial data science


Economics major turned spatial data scientist

Even when students think they know exactly where their career is heading, sometimes a project or a professor steers them in an entirely new direction. That was the case for Angela Li, AB’18. Li earned dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and public policy, but for the last year, she has been making a name for herself in the world of spatial data science.


Sara Ray Stoelinga, AB'95, AM'01, PhD'04 (Sociology) named president of Carroll University

Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin has announced the appointment of Sara Ray Stoelinga, Sara Liston Spurlark Director of the Urban Education Institute (UEI), as its next president effective July 1, 2017. It is the first appointment of a woman as President in Carroll’s 170-year history.  This appointment reflects Stoelinga's administrative leadership at the University of Chicago and her work as a scholar and educator.
