Renee Basick comes to the Division of the Social Sciences with nearly ten years of University communications experience. Most recently, she was part of the UChicago Creative team, collaborating with departments across the university to tell compelling stories using innovative media. Previously, she directed the Chicago Multimedia Initiatives Group, where she grew a small office of two people (and a video camera) into a campus-wide production service that focused on reaching internal and external audiences. With an undergraduate degree in Journalism (broadcast news/multimedia) from The University of Missouri-Columbia, Renee's career began as an NBC-affiliate reporter but she quickly realized higher education was her passion. She pursued an MLA here at UChicago and not long after beginning the program, accepted a position in the Office of the Provost as a producer. A degree and a couple titles later, she joined University Communications, where she honed her skills in strategic communication. In her off-time, you may catch her sailing, working in the community garden she co-founded, or traveling. She has a large slobbery dog named Cassius.
