Cate Goebel is the Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives. In this role, she has broad responsibility for advising the Dean on complex academic and research initiatives and instituting those initiatives effectively. Cate also leads research development efforts for the Division, facilitating interdisciplinary research teams, developing innovative research programs, and building organizational partnerships to support faculty research.
Prior to joining the University in December 2013, Cate served as Director of Sponsorship & Corporate Giving at The Field Museum, where she led a development team and managed a diverse portfolio of funders and civic leaders. She has a broad range of non-profit management experience, having also worked for a cancer research organization, a family foundation, and Barnard College. Cate holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Columbia University.
Cate lives “in the sky” with her husband, son, and kitty in Chicago’s South Loop. When she's not working, she enjoys great views, big laughs, loud music, exotic travel, and design blogs.
