Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS)

MAPSS delivers elite social science training and personalized mentorship in one transformative year, placing graduates in top PhD programs and global careers.

Explore the full breadth of the social sciences at the University of Chicago with access to courses across not only the Division of the Social Sciences but also the University of Chicago, and the flexibility to design an individualized curriculum or pursue a formal concentration, students shape their academic path in alignment with their long-term goals. Master of Arts in Computational Social Science (MACSS)

Social and computer scientists stand at the cusp of a revolution, poised to transform the next generation of social and computational research and teaching.

With disciplinary backgrounds spanning the social, physical, and natural sciences, as well as varied levels of expertise in computational methods and programming, MACSS students acquire the knowledge, skills, and expertise to innovate in and across social science fields. Immersed in a community of scholars across the social and behavioral sciences as well as computer science, the program’s flexible curriculum offers opportunities to tailor coursework and research interests for a distinctively UChicago degree.

Committee on International Relations Master’s Program (CIR) 

CIR offers an interdisciplinary, customizable curriculum for those ready to shape international affairs now—not years from now.

The University of Chicago’s Committee on International Relations (CIR) offers an intensive, one-year MA program that fast-tracks students to turn insight into global impact. Each year, a select cohort builds advanced research skills, engages with global issues through an interdisciplinary lens, and customizes their path toward career goals. Whether pursuing roles in policy, diplomacy, consulting, or academia, CIR graduates leave equipped to shape global outcomes—immediately and meaningfully.

Master of Arts in Economics (MAE)

The only MA program from a top economics department in the U.S., MAE embodies the full tradition of Chicago Economics.
