Join International House and the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Chicago for a special viewing of a National Committee on U.S.-China Relations CHINA Town Hall live webcast featuring U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Kurt Campbell. The viewing will be followed by an in-person discussion with Michael Millis, Professor of Surgery and Faculty Director, UChicago Center in Beijing; and Ken Pomeranz, University Professor of Modern Chinese History and Faculty Director, UChicago Hong Kong Campus. The conversation will be led by Michael Kulma, Assistant Director of Programs and Communications at International House.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Early Career Practice Movement among Advanced Practice Providers
The Outcomes Research Workshop (ORW) is focused on clinical outcomes, health services and comparative effectiveness research, patient-centered outcomes research, and medical education, with an emphasis on the application or use of social science research methods. The workshop is highly interactive and provides opportunities for trainees, fellows, and faculty to present early-stage research ideas or preliminary results, to practice conference talks, or to use the time as a research or grant preparation working meeting with colleagues and senior faculty. The ORW originated over 10 years ago as part of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and continues to be open to the University community. The workshop is sponsored by the University of Chicago Institute for Translational Medicine, CHeSS, and the Departments of Family Medicine, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The workshop series is organized by Director of Training Programs and Communications Fahad Sajid, PhD.

AI Methods + Social Sciences: Using Machine Learning to Understand Realities and Virtual Realities
Join SSRC for a new series of discussions featuring UChicago researchers who are applying specific AI methods to social science research in novel ways. This event will explore how machine learning can be a powerful tool in behavioral research, from building models that generate and manipulate the appearance of hyper-realistic faces to capture and analyze judgement and bias to creating natural environments in VR that test how different designed features may affect brain processing and cognitive performance.
