Tasneem Mandviwala is a cultural psychologist interested in the development of multicultural gendered identity trajectories in the contemporary U.S. In particular, she conducts qualitative work that focuses on second-generation South Asian Muslim American women, but she has also done some research on Latinx and Black youth. Her most recent publication, “Private Revolutions of Second-generation Muslim American Women” (Current Opinion in Psychology, 2020), focuses on documenting research that shows the power Muslim American women’s life and identity decisions hold in terms of changing social, cultural, and political norms regarding immigrant Islam in America.
