Sayantan Saha Roy
Teaching Fellow in the Social SciencesSayantan Saha Roy is a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at the University of Chicago. He is a legal anthropologist interested in the postcolonial state, constitutionalism, law and politics in South Asia. Roy's current book manuscript interrogates how right to life emerged as a critical legal concept in Indian jurisprudence, how it is mobilized in a range of situations and the kinds of powers and practices in enables. He carried out fieldwork for the project in Manipur and in India's environmental courts.
