Teaching Fellows

Mark Deming is a Teaching Fellow in the Social Sciences Division and instructs courses in the Social Science Inquiry Sequence. His research focuses on political regimes, regime transitions and political parties, with an emphasis on Latin America. His dissertation, The Strategic Foundations of Authoritarian Successor Parties, examines how elite actors from former dictatorships across Latin America have often coordinated under democracy to evade transitional justice and preserve their political and economic influence.
