I’m broadly interested in the social organization of risk and disaster. More specifically, I’m interested in how modernity’s “trustee institutions” come to understand, govern, and coordinate in the face of natural hazards stemming from climate change. My dissertation, which does not yet exist, will examine this question through an ethnographic study of the American emergency management field.

My previous work has been at the intersection of economic sociology and the sociology of education. In it I examined the moral meanings of parental financial investment at an anonymous, elite liberal arts college.
