James Heckman honored for his research on poverty

Nobel laureate James Heckman is one of this year’s recipients of the Dan David Prize, an international honor which encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research, for his scholarship on poverty.

 

Heckman was among three world-renowned economists recognized in the category of “combating poverty,” along with Profs. Sir Anthony Atkinson of the London School of Economics and François Bourguignon of the Paris School of Economics.

 

Nobel Laureate Robert E. Lucas, Jr., Professor of Economics, to be awarded the Division's prestigious Phoenix Prize

In recognition of his outstanding and loyal service to the University of Chicago and the enormous influence his work has had on the field of Economics, Robert E. Lucas, Jr., will be presented the Phoenix Prize from the Division of the Social Sciences.
