Marvin W. Mikesell, Professor of Geography at the University of Chicago, died on April 26, 2017. He was 88, having taught the first five weeks of his Spring Quarter seminar on the human geography of the Middle East. He joined the University in 1958, and was one of the longest-serving faculty members at his death.
The Committee on Geographical Sciences is holding a memorial service in honor of Marvin on Friday, October 20th, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., in Bond Chapel at the University of Chicago, followed by a reception in Swift Hall Common Room next door. Colleagues and friends are cordially invited to attend.
