Emily Talen is Professor of Urbanism at the University of Chicago. Prior appointments were at Arizona State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has a Phd in urban geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research is devoted to urban design and urbanism, especially the relationship between the built environment and social equity. Her books include: New Urbanism and American Planning, Design for Diversity, Urban Design Reclaimed, and City Rules.


Sydney Stein Professor in American Politics, Department of Political Science, the College, and the Harris School of Public Policy; Chair, Department of Political Science

William Howell is the Sydney Stein Professor in American Politics at the University of Chicago. He holds appointments in the Harris School of Public Policy, the Department of Political Science, and the College. He has written widely on separation-of-powers issues and American political institutions, especially the presidency. His recent research examines how domestic political institutions constrain the president's ability to exercise military force abroad.

Michael Greenstone is a Professor of Economics and Director of the interdisciplinary Energy Policy Institute at Chicago.  His other current positions and affiliations include Elected Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Editor of the Journal of Political Economy, Faculty Director of the E2e Project, Head of the JPAL Environment and Energy Program, co‐Director of the International Growth Centre’s Energy Research Programme, and Nonresident Senior Fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution.
