Buying hardware and software

The Division encourages employees to obtain advice or recommendation on what to buy from the desktop support staff assigned to their units. The University’s NSIT Solution Center has information on the latest prices for a wide variety of computers, peripherals and software along with standard computer bundles.  The University has a number of site licenses for software. Consult NSIT Site Licensing.  Place your hardware and software orders through the Division’s Local Business Center or through the Department of Economics for its staff.

Installing computers

SSCS staff sets up new computers and installs all necessary software. They also assess and ensure that computers inherited from previous employees meet new employees needs.  SSCS makes sure that all machines are properly configured for use and support and are inventoried. Note:  The Distributed Department Support group, NSIT, installs the desktops for the Office of the Dean, Local Business Center, and Auxiliary Services Center.
