Diversity
The Division of the Social Sciences is committed to the recruitment and retention of students of color in social science disciplines, and their subsequent movement into the professoriate. As part of this initiative, the Division participates in the annual Graduate and Professional Day event organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMSA), as well as other regional and national recruitment fairs.
Dean’s Taskforce
The Division has constituted a ‘taskforce’ of under-represented minority students to advise the Dean of Students on programs and initiatives to support under-represented minority students in the Division. This taskforce of advanced scholars has helped the Dean understand particular issues students of color face in the Division, as well as helped plan professionalization workshops and social functions for their students of color. For more information about these initiatives and programs, please contact the Dean of Students, Patrick Hall at bp-hall@uchicago.edu or 773.702.8414.
